As a baby Jack was unable to feed and was crying constantly. At four years of age he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease which has left him with brain damage.
“Francis House have stepped in when we really need them – if we’re at a point where we’re desperate for a break they’ve really helped us feel like a family again,” says mum Tina.
"It's somewhere where you can come and remember what it's like to be a mum or a dad or a parent, rather than a nurse doing medical interventions.
“In the future we know that we’re not going to have Jack around with us, and we know that Francis House are going to be there for us when that time comes.”

Francis House supports approximately 2,000 people at any one time with respite care, homecare, sibling support, end of life care and emotional and bereavement support.
From our site in Didsbury, Francis House is a lifeline to more than 500 families from across Greater Manchester including Stockport, Oldham, Bury, Rochdale, Manchester, Salford and Trafford.
We provide high levels of clinical care to the families of children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Children, young people and family members are welcomed into a friendly, home from home environment. The support we offer includes physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual care from a dedicated multi-disciplinary care team. Telephone Support is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
